New Facility Update

Updates on our new facility and highlights from the recent EGM

EGM Recap

In March 2026, we hosted an EGM to discuss the future of our club. We were thrilled to see a strong turnout of parents and supporters. The meeting focused on the financial challenges of our current site including a significant 87% rent increase and presented our formal proposal to move to a new, sustainable facility.

Westmead Move

Why We Are Moving: Our current home at Isis Trading Estate has served us well for over 20 years, but we have outgrown it. With our lease ending in 2027 and utility costs rising, we have a potential new site at Westmead Industrial Estate. This move allows us to trade an aging building for a modern, high-specification facility that will serve our gymnasts for decades to come.

High-Performance Training Environment:

  • Enhanced Dimensions: A 36m floor length and 6.6m height allow for full-length vaulting, tumble runs, and FIG-standard rings.

  • Modern Amenities: We are installing a larger foam pit area, a dedicated mezzanine viewing gallery, and a multi-purpose café space with high-speed Wi-Fi.

  • Efficiency & Comfort: The building features full insulation and a modern heating system, providing a much better training environment.

Timeline: The August Transition To minimize disruption, we are timing the move during the summer break:

  • Move Begins: First week of August 2026.

  • Grand Reopening: We aim to be fully operational in our new home approximately one to two weeks later.

We Need You: Community & Business Support:

  • The Trade Team: We are looking for volunteers with skills in plumbing, electrical work, or building to help with the internal fit-out.

  • Business Partnerships: We are seeking local businesses for sponsorships (e.g., café or viewing area naming rights) or material donations (timber, paint, and hardware).

  • Volunteer days: A lot of man power is needed for this project, when we have confirmed dates if members and parents can use their volunteer days from employers to help the club.

Q&A's

Q: Will the move result in a price increase for classes? A: No. A primary reason for this move is to avoid passing on the massive 87% rent increase at our current site to our parents. By moving to a more efficient building with lower overheads, we are protecting the long-term affordability of our classes.

Q: Is there enough parking at the new site? A: Yes. Westmead offers 30 dedicated spaces with no rival business parking nearby. For larger events and competitions, we have identified overflow areas that can accommodate 50+ vehicles.

Q: What happens to classes during the move in August? A: We have planned an incredibly tight transition. The physical move will happen in the first week of August, and we intend to be open just one week later. We will communicate the exact dates well in advance so families can plan accordingly.

Q: How can I help if I don’t have trade skills? A: We need plenty of "general" help during the move week for cleaning, painting, and moving equipment! Additionally, if you work for a company that offers community grants or sponsorships, please let us know.

Q: Is the new facility accessible? A: Absolutely. Unlike our current site, Westmead features level entry and wide corridors, ensuring our "Gymnastics for All" and adaptive programs have a fully inclusive home.
